Only Two

I went to him, and he took me
I let him, I
wanted him to.
I felt him tugging at
my clothing
my hair, my skin.
His teeth scraping,
dragging at
my flesh.
His breath caressing,
stroking my arms,
my spine.

His arms lifted me, and pulled me
I let him, I
wanted him too.
He sucked at my
breast, my soul.
He ignited me,
stoked me.

He came to me, and I took him
he let me, he
wanted me to.
I tugged at him, at
his clothing,
his flesh. I
tasted him, his
mouth, his
sweat. I caressed
him, his thigh,
his hair. I enveloped
him.

I engulfed him, eclipsed him.
He let me, he
wanted me too.
I sucked him, his
heart, his soul.
I ignited him,
stoked him.

We came together, and we took it.
We accepted it. We
wanted it.
It pushed us, to
join, to become
one. It teased us,
showed us, what
could be. It tugged
at us, our souls
separated. Again
only two, no
longer one.

Dawn

PBAdams always pesters me to write more poetry. So, here's a stab in the dark at an early morning haiku.

Cat rubs against sleepy legs
Child laughs with tired eyes
Morning breaks

Slipstream Memories

The events of my life slip past, flowing smoothly along. They are indifferent to my efforts and desires. I see them as if from afar and once they have passed I cannot quite retrieve them. The fingers of my mind grasp at memories of happy days or sad days the actual remembering flows through my fingers like water in a rapidly moving stream. All I am left with are sparkling remnants clinging to the edges of my mind. Tantalizing facets refracting bits and pieces of past events, never enough to quench my desires.

Memories slipping like water
Through fingers
Of the mind

Water flows clinging sparkling
Faceted jewels quench
Desire

Life a stream
Indifferent

Six

The pills are there,
just behind that cabinet door,
on the third shelf…
Just behind a bottle of fish oil and
another of St. John’s Wort.

Anti-anxiety,
that’s what the doctor said they were for.
A warning:
too many at once or mixed with alcohol
they can kill;
they depress breathing.

How many would it take?
How many to make the pain and fear subside?
Three? Seven?
There are 43 in the bottle.
Surely 43 would be more than enough.

But how many would be just enough,
just enough to ease the pain and fear
for only a short while?
How many to calm the fear
without calming it forever?

Six. Six should do the trick.

Shadow of a Soul

Wings of black flame
charred and ashen feathers
soar aloft

Darkness, Shadowy
Flaming talons
engulf—consume—devour

Birth sucks
breath
from death.

Shadows enwomb
conflict—change—flux
The eternal I

Transformation
joy—sorrow
pleasure—pain
birth—death.

Crawling, clawing, climbing
Death arisen
Beauty incarnate

Charred and scarred
wings
papery ash
Black Feathers, Flames

The Raven—Phoenix ascends.

Seasons Joy and Sorrow

The trees are weeping leaves
Sister Wind sweeps crisp tears away

Father Sky is weeping snow
Sister Wind whips frozen tears away

Wrapped in Winter’s frozen blanket Mother Earth slumbers
Sister Wind sings a lonely lullaby

Father Sky is weeping warmth
Sister Wind blows Winter’s icy blanket away

The trees are weeping petals
Sister Wind swirls pastel tears away

Sister Wind dances with the trees
The cycle is renewed
