Poetry Exercise | Moonshot

I managed to find a picture on the net of how the moon looks here tonight. It isn't a terrific likeness but it will do. I swear this group is infectious. I went and wrote a multi stanza haiku in response to the moon tonight. LOL Weird, isn't it?

Words Pale

I sit quietly small,
pondering deeply, trying
to disturb nothing

while blindly feeling
for misplaced thoughts, reading
glasses perched on nose,

slipping steadily
down, breath held, waiting
to capture brilliance

lurking in the dark
place that is my mind when light
disturbs the pool of night

just a bright half moon
poised above tree line, gold
dazzling amazed eyes,

radiant humbling
revelation in darkness–
words pale under moon.

I love this piece and I know less is best but the absence of connecting words are drawing attention to themselves. Awesome piece! I have no idea what you look like but I had the image of you and your sliding glasses beneath the moon, fixed in my mind.

Thanks for reading and commenting on this one, Eve. Haiku and for that matter any structured form are not really my forte and I know it shows. I should leave the haiku to Tiger who does it much better than I. LOL

I really wrote this out of silliness more than anything else, but I can see in your remarks that I may have an actual poem here. I will work on it and repost it. Thanks again, good to have you back! :D
