How long the night,
how deeply seated
in quiet,
the pounding
in my chest
so loud,
restlessly we turn
waiting,
my heart and I
for night
to spill away
into day.

Considering that it's after 3am here and I am still awake with my heart pounding and my teeth clenched, I think I can claim to know this. As always, clearly focused, and cleverly done. Thanks for this, Eve. It's nice not to feel alone.
Good use of words. I like the shortness of it and the sounds the choice of words make, which dictate the mood and sadness of the piece.
I also noticed the shortness of the poem contrasted/conflicted with the long night. This has a good effect on the piece to not only further stamp the mood of the piece, but also to convey the confusion, isolation and state of the writer or the person involved in this poem.
Good going.
Change nothing.
Thanks everyone. Finally a piece I can feel good about.
