About Love

I probably should say that this is one of a set of three. About Time and About Stars go with this one.
This morning I rose early
before the full moon had faded,
as the sun was just climbing over the pines
and the stars shivering feebly in the dawn

then I thought

how like the two of us. You, the joyful sun
and me, the grateful moon. Cold stone
without you, the bright face you illuminate
and the frigid, frightened face

trembling

in sunless space on the dark side
of the moon. You share your bliss,
your fire with me and I for my part
shower you with love,

balanced

on this summit above the bay,
between friendship and passion,
you loving the whole world,
every living creature and me

loving you endlessly

and endlessly wondering
if in the end I will be your someone
or just another until this present
dream of life,

broken by a blustery costal storm,
ends abruptly as dreams will.
Then we rise to a different reality
while the sleeping one
frailly lingers on.
